Alión is one of Spain's most acclaimed modern red wines, created by the legendary Álvarez family, the owners of Vega Sicilia.
Launched with the 1991 harvest, Alión was envisioned to break away from the hyper-traditional, long-aged style of Vega Sicilia's flagship Único. Alion is a modern, avant-garde, and fleshy expression of Ribera del Duero, taking inspiration from the top-tier winemaking techniques of Bordeaux Châteaux.
100% Tempranillo grape, aged for 12 to 14 months almost exclusively in 100% new French oak Bordeaux barrels, followed by at least 15 months of refinement in the bottle before release.
